Liatris Bulb Mix

Liatris Bulb Mix

Liatris Mix - Blazing Star in Purple & White

Blazing star is one of those plants that earns its name. Tall, feathery flower spikes shoot up from late spring foliage and open in waves of rich purple and crisp white. And here's the twist: they bloom from the top down, which means the show unfolds gradually and lasts for weeks through mid to late summer.

This mix includes 100 corms of two varieties: Liatris spicata in classic purple, and Liatris spicata 'Floristan Weiss' in pure white. Together, they create a striking contrast that works in borders, meadow-style gardens, cutting gardens, and containers. Both are native to North America, perennial, and built to return stronger each year.

As for pollinators — bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds all find these irresistible. And once summer ends, the dried seed heads become a food source for finches and songbirds through fall and winter. Four seasons of interest from one spring planting.

Why You'll Love the Liatris Mix

  • Includes 100 bulbs: mix of purple and white flower spikes
  • Blooms in mid to late summer for up to 4 weeks per spike
  • Great for borders, meadow-style gardens, or containers
  • Butterfly magnet and pollinator-friendly
  • Excellent as a cut flower — fresh or dried

Growing notes: Plant bulbs in spring in a full-sun spot with well-draining soil. Water regularly until established; once settled in, liatris tolerates dry spells well. Leave seed heads standing through fall to feed the birds, then cut back in early spring when new growth appears.

Bonus: Liatris works beautifully in containers, too. The upright form and lack of a deep taproot make it a natural fit for large pots on a sunny patio.
